6 SIMPLE WAYS TO IMPROVE TEAM HEALTH AND FITNESS
On top of making custom sports apparel, health and fitness are two things that are very important to Prolook. This year, we’re making it a company-wide goal to better our wellness and we’re extending that invitation to you and your team. We know, not everyone is a pro football player, and it’s not always easy to change your lifestyle to a healthy one, so we compiled a list of 6 simple things you can start doing right now that will improve your health – the best part? They are simple and easy! Check it out:
1. Eat less at the restaurant
On average, restaurant proportions are too big for a single meal. As soon as you order, tell team to tell their waiter that they want half of the meal to-go. The meal will come out half the size and they will have a meal for later as well! Overeating is the fast track to an unhealthy lifestyle, avoid huge amounts of caloric intake with this simple trick.
2. Track your steps
Along with your favorite sports jersey put on a pedometer, a fit bit, an Apple watch, or even your phone! Seeing how many steps you are taking a day will motivate you to take even more steps. Aim for 10,000 steps and you’re on the right track!
3. Friendly team competition - Match your liquid consumption with water consumption
It’s hard to give up your beloved diet coke, or any other favorite drink that you have. A quick and easy way to amp up your health is to match your liquid consumption with water consumption. Meaning, for every can of Diet Coke you drink, you must also drink one bottle of water. Make a game of it with your sports team. Of course, the end goal is to drink way more water than anything else, but chances are – you’re not drinking enough water to start with. So match your water consumption for a good start!
4. Even if it is football season –don’t buy the snacks!
When you’re at the grocery store – just avoid the unhealthy snacks and candy. They can’t tempt you if they aren’t sitting in your kitchen.
5. Life isn’t a spectator sport
Encourage Teamates to park farther away, always take the stairs, if somewhere you have to be is walking distance – WALK! These little steps add up and are an easy way to be healthier and more fit!
6. A great coaches tip – go for the fridge not the freezer!
Items that need to be refrigerated are usually healthier than foods found in your pantry or in your freezer. On average, there are usually fewer preservatives in your food that needs to be refrigerated and your refrigerator usually consists of more whole, natural foods. So when in doubt – fridge it out.
